Students take part in Voice Recital

Student Voice Recital

Sixteen Cowley College music students recently participated in the Student Voice Recital held Tuesday in the Earle N. Wright Community Room.

According to director of vocal music Lindsay Allen, the evening was a huge success.

“We had a wonderful audience and had to bring in additional chairs to accommodate over 50 attendees,” Allen said. “Some of the students went the extra mile by performing an additional piece in an ensemble piece. A highlight of the evening was inviting music major Chase Mathews to play his violin for the audience. Chase took voice lessons for the first time this semester and it was wonderful to hear him sing a piece by Mozart and then play a piece by Mozart on his violin. Every student did a phenomenal job and I am going to really miss working with the graduating sophomores.”

Students that performed at the Voice Recital were, Cal Blagg, Kathrynne Giger, Lexi Rogers, Nyle Franklin, Raychell Beshirs, Chase Mathews, Elle Abrams, Alicia Hunter, Spencer MacLaughlin, Devin Jarrell, Zulema Sanchez, Maria Nolla, Micah Greenlee, Gwyneth Abrams, Emily Smith, and Xavier Huffman.

The Cowley Band and Choir will take the stage with Cowley Music Alumni to celebrate Cowley’s Centennial year on Tuesday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert Brown Theatre. Make plans to attend this event to hear new music by Dr. Michael Christensen and Stephen Butler in celebration of Cowley’s 100 years. There is no cost to attend this exciting event.
