Ribbon-cutting held at newly remodeled McAtee Dining Center

Cowley College employees and members of the Arkansas City community celebrated the recent changes made to the Patrick J. McAtee Dining Center by participating in a ribbon-cutting event on Thursday.

The McAtee Dining Center was recently remodeled thanks to Fresh Ideas Food Service Management. The cafeteria-style dining offers a breakfast bar, salad bar, fruit bar, grill, desserts, and beverages.

“The remodel is beautiful; it adds a lot of color, and by opening it up, it is more easily accessible for the students and the community,” Cowley College president Dr. Michelle Schoon said.

The Dining Center is open seven days a week, with brunch and dinner only served on the weekend.

“We hope the community sees this as a viable place to come and have breakfast, lunch, and supper,” Dr. Schoon said. “It is nice to have the food selection, but also for the community to be able to interact with the students and Cowley employees that eat here on a regular basis.”

Arkansas City Chamber of Commerce CEO Arty Hicks was among those in attendance at the ribbon-cutting.

“I am always excited when I see a group come in and invest in our community,” Hicks said. “When they do that for us, the best thing we can do for them is show support.”

The Dining Center recently re-opened to the public on August 14.
