Record turnout for Health and Human Services Day at Cowley College

Health and Human Services Day at Cowley College

More than 300 students from several area schools attended Cowley College’s Health and Human Services Day event held Wednesday at Cowley College’s main campus in Arkansas City.

The event allowed students interested in a Health and Human Service Field (Fire, Law Enforcement, Nursing, Doctor, Dentistry, EMT, Paramedic, Cosmetology, Education, etc..) to visit with professional vendors.

“There was an amazing amount of engagement this year from the visiting students,” director of criminal justice Frank Owens said. “It’s always fun to showcase what Cowley has to offer. This year, we had several attractions, including an Eagle Med Helicopter landing, rides on the firetruck ladder, impaired driving simulation with the Arkansas City Police Department, and much more.”

New participants in the event included the Kansas Department of Corrections, Wichita Police Department, and Sedgewick County EMS. There were also three food trucks (The Noble House, Ken and Barbie’s Rollin Diner, and Yoly’s Taco y Mas) at the event.

The students also had an opportunity to win some great door prizes, including a Health and Human Services scholarship.
