Enter Our Contests

  • Creative Writing — Share your work for a chance to earn scholarships.
  • Journalism/Broadcast/film — Follow your passion to a scholarship and earn a degree in a field you love (Mass Communication covers: journalism, broadcasting, photography, marketing, public relations, film, social media management and more).

Contest Information

We will have two types of contests: Writing and Video. Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to enter these contests. All contest entrants must register for and attend Humanities & Communication Day on November 15. Deadline to submit contest entries is November 8.

Scholarship Interviews

Seniors, you will have the opportunity to discuss your work with the department chair, key faculty and program directors. We will discuss department and program courses, activities, and opportunities. You will discover if Cowley College is the place for you! Bring examples of your work unless you have already submitted them for one of the contests.

Writing Contest

Categories include Fiction, Nonfiction, and Poetry Genres. You are encouraged to enter more than one category and submit as many works as you like. Those submitting a variety of diverse works will be considered for the prodigy award along with individual awards. When submitting works, include your Name, Genre Type and Title on each work. Acceptable formats include: MS Word or PDF.

Mass Comm Contest

Categories include Video (broadcast/film), Photography, Essays and Articles. You may enter more than one category and submit as many examples as you like. When submitting be sure to include your Name, Category and Title on each submission. Acceptable formats include: WMA, MP3, WAV or YouTube link; JPEG, GIF or PNG for photos; and MS Word or PDF for print.
