Biography and Interests:
As many Ark City youth does, Alison (Ali) Nittler decided to attend Cowley College and play softball for the Lady Tigers. After just one year of softball, she decided it was time to hang up her cleats and focus on her education, especially when she decided to switch majors from Pre-Pharmacy to Accounting. Once she completed her 2 years at Cowley and earned her Associate’s, she transferred to Wichita State University to attend the Barton School of Business. During her time at WSU, Ali took a semester off to participate in a public accounting internship with Allen, Gibbs, and Houlik. While she enjoyed her time at AGH, she ultimately made the decision to continue working for a local oil and gas company called Oil Producers Inc. of Kansas (OPIK), whom had given her a shot as an intern, then hired her full-time upon graduating with her Bachelor’s.
Through the 12 years she worked for OPIK, she covered areas from accounts receivable, billing, payroll, JIB and ended her time as the revenue accounting before she decided it was time for a change - it was time to get back to her roots and return to Cowley College. At first, Ali joined the Athletic Department where she worked as the Assistant Athletic Director from 2022-2024. When a faculty position in accounting came open, Ali applied, and the rest is history (not the class).
Outside of accounting, Ali attends as many athletic events as possible, because she still has a passion for athletics, even if she isn’t working in that department anymore. You will usually find her working at the table in the gym, or cheering from the sidelines at the different athletic fields. She also is one of three ladies who have taken over the revitalized Student Pantry, a free resource for all Cowley students.
Outside of Cowley, Ali enjoys spending time with her family, her 4-legged fur-child Luna, volunteering for Make-A-Wish, and taking the longest naps ever.
