The Cowley College Golden Tigers program, offered to community members who are at least 50 years of age or who are fully retired, provides educational opportunities that promotes the social, intellectual, mental, spiritual, and physical well-being of its members.
Short-term classes, hands-on workshops, and enlightening day trips are offered throughout the fall and spring semesters each year. The Golden Tigers program is designed to create community for its members while enriching their lives.
Program Details
Courses
The Golden Tigers program aims to offer a cross-section of courses. Classes are created
to promote learning through a variety of avenues. We’ll explore new skills and exchange
ideas. Our classes may help members develop new interests and expand their horizons,
or they may help members cultivate their interests and stay physically active. No
matter what brings you to the Golden Tigers program, we are happy to have you!
Trips
The Golden Tigers take three day trips each semester. These trips are designed to
be both fun and educational. We will travel to interesting sites and take part in
hands-on learning opportunities. Please note that each trip is graded on accessibility
in its description, but please feel free to contact the Golden Tigers Coordinator
directly for any further questions.
Service Opportunities
Throughout the semester, there might be opportunities to give back through service
within the community. Golden Tigers members will have the opportunity to learn more
about these service organizations and become involved should the program have the
chance to sponsor events and/or partnerships.
Cowley College has a variety of opportunities of which Golden Tigers can take advantage. These programs, clubs, and services are open to the public and/or our members.
Platinum Card
Platinum Cards are available to community members aged 60 and over, and the card allows
them free admission to certain college events. Any community member that resides in
Cowley, Chautauqua, Sumner, or Sedgwick County qualifies. All Platinum cardholders
are eligible to receive one ticket for free admission into any Cowley College home
athletic event and any Cowley College theater event. There is no limit to the number
of events that a cardholder can attend during the academic year. Platinum cardholders
will not be able to use their card for any performance or event in the Robert Brown
Theatre that is not a Cowley College sponsored performance.
The Platinum Card (previously known as the Gold Card) is independent and separate from the Golden Tigers, but it is available to our members who qualify. For more information, contact Golden Tigers Coordinator, Micah Fry, at 620-441-5225.
