Mary Brantley Alumni Spotlight
Mary Brantley earned her Associate of Arts degree from Cowley College as a non-traditional student in 2015. Despite the challenges of being a struggling single mother, she attended night classes and overcame financial difficulties with the support of Kristi Shaw, who helped her secure an Endowment Scholarship.
In 2022, Mary became the Arkansas City Middle School Track and Field coach, a position she still holds today. Her passion for sports and mentoring youth began to shine through in her coaching career.
In July 2024, Mary graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor’s in General Studies. During her time at Pitt State, she and her twin brother, Will, co-founded a nonprofit organization called Blue Chips. The organization aimed to bridge the gap between the Pittsburg, KS community and the college, hosting events and raising funds to support local initiatives. Their efforts fostered meaningful connections and made a positive impact on the community.
Later that year, Mary expanded her coaching career by becoming the Arkansas City High School Assistant Girls Basketball coach, demonstrating her dedication to empowering young athletes.
