Cowley College Continues to Meet Accreditation Standards

Cowley College is proud to announce that the Higher Learning Commission’s (HLC) Institutional Actions Council has reaffirmed our accreditation following its January 6, 2025, meeting. The next Reaffirmation of Accreditation will be in 2034-35. Cowley College has maintained accreditation with HLC since 1975.
“Meeting the accreditation standards, followed by the positive site visit and the reaffirmation of accreditation, is a testament to our employees and their dedication to our students and stakeholders,” said Cowley College President Dr. Michelle Schoon.
The Higher Learning Commission, a regional accrediting agency, evaluates degree-granting colleges and universities across the United States. Maintaining accreditation assures academic quality for Cowley College’s students and reflects the alignment of institutional practices with its mission.
In their report, the HLC peer review team commended Cowley College for its excellence as an institution, highlighting the following:
- Integrity and Ethical Behavior: Clear governance, strong academic standards, and transparent financial management.
- High-Quality Facilities: Well-maintained and equipped physical facilities that support student learning.
- Commitment to Student Success: Clear and complete information provided to students and the public, demonstrating dedication to learning and achievement.
- Strong Teaching and Resources: Exemplary quality of teaching and the availability of resources for student success.
- Continuous Improvement: A robust process of planning, analysis, and adjustments to meet the evolving needs of students and stakeholders.
The report also praised the College’s well-prepared accreditation documentation and commended its commitment to fostering an environment of academic excellence.
“We are incredibly proud of this achievement,” said President Schoon. “This reaffirmation underscores our commitment to providing an outstanding educational experience for our students and serving the community with integrity and excellence.”
