Cowley College and the City of Arkansas City to Host Community Cleanup Day

Cowley College and the City of Arkansas City are teaming up for a Community Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 8 AM to Noon. Volunteers from across the community will join forces to beautify Arkansas City by removing debris, bundling branches, and assisting residents in need.
Community members, student organizations, and Cowley College employees are encouraged to participate and join us in making a difference. Volunteers will gather at Wilson Park at 7:30 AM for assignments and return at noon to wrap up the event. Participants are asked to bring their own rakes and garden gloves to assist with cleanup efforts.
Cleanup Activities Include:
- Bundling branches (must be 4 feet or shorter) for the burn pit
- Picking up and bagging trash and debris for curbside collection
- Raking and bagging leaves for the burn pit
Residents who require branch removal, trash pickup, or leaf raking assistance may be eligible for this free service. To see if they qualify, they can contact Shana Adkisson at sadkisson@arkansascityks.gov or call 620-441-4415. The city will assess each request to determine if it is a feasible cleanup project.
This event is being led by ACES and the Media Club at Cowley College, who have invited all Cowley student clubs and college employees to participate. The cleanup will occur just before the City-Wide Cleanup Week (April 7–11), allowing volunteers to assist residents in moving items to the curb for scheduled pickup.
The event will be canceled in the event of rain or other inclement weather. Join us in keeping Arkansas City clean!
