Cowley College Celebrates CTE Month with Exciting Student Event

cte celebration

Cowley College wrapped up Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month with a high-energy celebration on Wednesday, February 26th, bringing together nearly 100 students for an afternoon of fun, food, and friendly competition.

The event, designed to recognize and appreciate CTE students, featured engaging activities, including bounce-house obstacle courses and classic yard games like Jumbo Connect 4 and KanJam, generously provided by the Ark City Public Library. Attendees also had the chance to win exciting prizes in a raffle supported by local businesses.

One event highlight was the trivia games, where students tested their knowledge in a fun and competitive environment. Samy Perez, NDT Instructor, shared his enthusiasm, stating, “It was great seeing students outside of the classroom having fun and participating in the trivia.” Automotive Instructor Jim Ailey echoed the sentiment, saying, “It was a lot of fun and a great turnout.”

The event's success would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of Cowley College’s faculty and staff. Special thanks go to:

  • Daniel Brooks & Zack Rozell for grilling up delicious food.
  • Jim Ailey & Samy Perez for hosting engaging trivia games.
  • Rick Squires & Jessica Dorman for organizing and distributing prizes.
  • Dakota Brinkley for managing the thank-you card station and gathering student signatures.
  • Dr. Rachel Bates & Tom Berding for taking the time to connect with students throughout the event.

The celebration was a resounding success, and plans are already in motion for future CTE events to continue fostering a strong and vibrant student community at Cowley College.
