Cowley College Launches eSports Program, Tryouts Set for April 1

Cowley College is excited to announce the debut of its eSports program, with official tryouts set for April 1st. Under the leadership of Director of eSports Jeremy Durham, the program is in its foundational stages, with a strong emphasis on building a competitive and well-structured team.
Durham has been working diligently to establish policies and guidelines for the program, ensuring a successful and sustainable foundation. He has been collaborating with experienced eSports coaches and directors to develop the best possible structure for Cowley College’s teams.
For the inaugural season, Cowley College will form teams for Rocket League and Valorant. In addition, plans are in place to assemble a team for Marvel Rivals, a game recently added to Tier 3 of the NJCAAE (National Junior College Athletic Association Esports). While Marvel Rivals is not yet in a Tier 1 or Tier 2 competitive league, Durham anticipates its inclusion in the near future and wants Cowley College to be prepared.
How to Join the Team:
Students interested in competing for Cowley College’s eSports team should attend tryouts
on April 1st, 2025 in the Tiger Vault, located in the basement of Galle-Johnson Hall
at 125 S. 2nd St. in Arkansas City, Kansas. The season will consist of weekly competitions
leading up to a potential postseason run, with the ultimate goal of claiming a national
championship.
This marks an exciting new chapter for Cowley College as it expands into the fast-growing world of competitive gaming. Students who are passionate about eSports and looking for an opportunity to represent their school at a high level are encouraged to try out.
