Cowley College Celebrates #CCMonth, Highlighting the Value of Community Colleges

Cowley College proudly joins Community College Month (#CCMonth), a national campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of community colleges. Throughout April, students, alumni, and the community are encouraged to share their experiences and highlight how Cowley College creates pathways to success.
“Attending a community college isn’t just a smart financial decision—it’s an investment in a personalized education,” said Dr. Michelle Schoon, Cowley College President. “Students who start at Cowley can save thousands while benefiting from smaller class sizes and one-on-one instructor support.”
Kansas students can save nearly $20,000 by starting at a community college before transferring to a university, according to national education data. This cost-effective path allows students to complete foundational courses affordably while gaining valuable academic support.
Cowley College partners with local businesses to equip students with in-demand skills, reducing student debt and fostering economic growth. The #CCMonth campaign, coordinated by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT), challenges misconceptions about two-year colleges and highlights their role in higher education. Each year, the campaign reaches millions across social media, with support from public figures and education advocates.
Cowley College invites students, alumni, and community members to join the conversation using #CCMonth and #BestDecisionEver to promote affordable education.
