Cowley College Sponsored Military Appreciation Night Scores Big with Community

Dr. Schoon's ceremonial first pitch

On Friday, July 12th, the Midwest Moos baseball stadium lit up with cheers and camaraderie as Cowley College, led by Andrew Bohn, VA and Military Representative, hosted a heartwarming Military Appreciation Night. The event, aimed at honoring veterans and their families, was a resounding success.

In an effort to extend gratitude to local veterans, Cowley College generously distributed free tickets to the public, drawing in a crowd of 40-50 attendees eager to enjoy a night of baseball and community spirit. Cowley President Dr. Michelle Schoon, a prominent figure in the community, ceremoniously threw out the first pitch, setting the tone for an evening filled with pride and togetherness.

However, the evening wasn't without a slight disappointment. Due to their drill weekend commitments, the Army National Guard was unable to attend, but their absence did little to dampen the enthusiasm and gratitude felt throughout the event.

"This night was more than just baseball," remarked Andrew Bohn, reflecting on the event's significance. "It was about showing our veterans and their families that Cowley College stands by them. We're proud to be a part of this community and to support those who have served our country."

Despite the Guard's absence, the event resonated deeply with attendees, highlighting Cowley College's ongoing commitment to veterans' support and community engagement. Families laughed, cheered, and bonded over America's favorite pastime, making memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime.

As the sun set over the stadium and the last cheers echoed through the stands, it was clear that Military Appreciation Night had achieved its goal—bringing together a community to honor and celebrate those who have sacrificed so much for their country.
