Cowley College Offers Community Language Classes This Fall

Cowley College is offering two community education language classes this fall, providing participants with the opportunity to learn a new language in a fun, welcoming, and interactive environment.

The classes are open to anyone 16 years of age or older and are ideal for beginners or those looking to strengthen their conversational skills. Both classes will be held at the Workforce and Community Education (WCE) Center on Cowley College's main campus in Arkansas City.

The fall offerings include:

American Sign Language (ASL)

When: Thursdays, 1:00–2:30 p.m.

Dates: September 3 – December 3

Location: Workforce and Community Education Center, Cowley College main campus, Arkansas City

Cost: $55

This 12-week course introduces participants to the fundamentals of American Sign Language and Deaf culture through conversational practice. There will be no class during Arkalalah or Thanksgiving week.

Spanish

When: Tuesdays, 4:00–5:30 p.m.

Dates: September 1 – November 17

Location: Workforce and Community Education Center, Cowley College main campus, Arkansas City

Cost: $55 (Golden Tigers discount available)

This 12-week conversational Spanish course provides a practical introduction to everyday vocabulary and common phrases, helping participants gain confidence communicating in Spanish. The class concludes before Thanksgiving.

Whether learning a new language for personal enrichment, travel, work, or community engagement, these community education classes offer a supportive environment for participants to build confidence and develop practical communication skills.
