Talent on display at Art & Design Prodigy Awards event held at Cowley College

Over 60 students from six high schools participated in the Art and Design Prodigy Awards held Wednesday at Cowley College’s main campus in Arkansas City.

“We had a great turnout, with people in attendance from Arkansas City, Winfield, Belle Plaine, Oxford, Uniontown, and Minneapolis,” graphic design instructor Mark Dykes said. “The work on display was some of the best we have seen in recent years, and we are so glad these talented student artists allowed us to show their work.”

Prodigy winners:

Best of Show Senior Division

All of our senior best-of-show winners will receive a $75 Amazon gift card and a scholarship offer to Cowley College along with their award.

• Senior Traditional 2D Media – Haley Wyckoff from Arkansas City
• Senior 3D Media – Gabriella Lujan from Belle Plaine
• Senior Digital – Mia Saucedo from Belle Plaine

Best of Show Junior Division

All of our junior best-of-show winners will receive a $40 Amazon gift card along with their award.

• Junior Digital – AJ Patterson from Belle Plaine

Painting

• 1st – Isabella Loomis from Minneapolis for “Blood Moon” – She will also receive a scholarship offer with her award.
• 2nd – Izzy Wild from Winfield for “Bone Fishy”
• 3rd – James Ball from Winfield for “Artisanal Grape Juice

Digital Art and Design

• 1st – Mia Saucedo from Belle Plaine for “Traveling Curry Leaf.” – She will also receive a scholarship offer along with her award.
• 2nd – Noah Harper from Arkansas City for “Don’t Fear”
• 3rd – Gabriella Lujan from Belle Plaine for “Alice in Borderland”

Drawing

• 1st – Julian Abarca for “D-Raggin” – He will also receive a scholarship offer along with his award.
• 2nd – Haley Wyckoff for “Hands & Feet”
• 3rd – Ella Badley from Arkansas City for “Pulled”

2D Other (Printmaking, Mixed Media, etc)

• 1st – Claire Peri from Arkansas City for “Claire and the Cats!”
• 2nd – Adysin McCarley from Uniontown for “Cow Puncher”
• 3rd – Alexis Silvey  from Winfield for “Me Too”

Ceramics/Glass

• 1st – Izzy Wild from Winfield for “Tea for Two”. He will also receive a scholarship offer along with his award.

Sculpture
