Kelley Lowe Named November Student of the Month
Kelley Lowe is a dedicated Environmental Science student at Cowley College, where she maintains a 4.0 GPA and serves as a tutor at the Tiger Learning Center (TLC). Hailing from a family farm between South Haven and Caldwell, Kansas, Kelley’s rural roots and lifelong involvement with the Sedgwick County Zoo have inspired her to pursue conservation and zoo science as a career.
Kelley is actively involved in campus life as a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the Math-Science Club, and IMPACT. Her passion for the environment and animals is evident through her long-standing volunteer work at the zoo, where she has participated in various educational programs since the second grade, including the Zoo Apprenticeship Program and the Teen Assistant Program.
A graduate of Lawrence Virtual School, Kelley credits her success to her support system, which includes her advisor, Mrs. Pugsley, and her Cowley College mentors, especially Dr. Layton. Now the November Student of the Month, Kelley is known for her dedication, kindness, and commitment to learning.
Looking ahead, Kelley plans to attend Friends University to earn a bachelor’s degree in Zoology. She aspires to work in conservation and further her studies in graduate school. Guided by the values instilled by her parents, Galen and Karen Lowe, she is committed to positively impacting the world through her studies and future career. In her downtime, Kelley enjoys life on the farm with her honorary siblings, three playful cats named Mittens, Walter, and Roy.
