First Annual South Central Kansas Welding Showdown held at Cowley College

High School students from around the area recently participated in the First Annual South Central Kansas Welding Showdown at Cowley College’s Career and Technical Education Center.

Following the competition, lead welding instructor Colby Endres and welding instructor Ricky Squires were among the judges who determined the winners of the showdown.

Students from Mulvane High School were named the team champions and received a banner and the welding traveling trophy. Dexter High School placed second, and Arkansas City third.

Stetson Shook was the individual champion and received a Lincoln Viking Welding Hood. Maverick Goff finished second and received an Outlaw Leather Welding Hood. Those placing third through eighth received an Outlaw leather ball cap.

Those placing third through eighth were Kurtis Caruthers, Jackson Gatton, Try Fontain, Cale Patterson, Cecil Vaden, and Krystain Devine.
