Grace Henderson

Cowley College is proud to announce that Grace Henderson, a 19-year-old student from Dexter, Kansas, has been crowned Miss Cowley County 2024. Grace will now represent Cowley County at the upcoming Miss Kansas competition, showcasing her dedication to community, academic achievement, and leadership.

Grace is a Mass Communications major at Cowley College with a 3.33 GPA. Her connection to Cowley began in high school when she started taking classes as a sophomore, making her decision to complete her associate degree at the college a natural choice. “I just knew I would finish my associate’s here; it was an easy choice,” she shared.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Grace plays an active role in campus life. She serves as a college ambassador, is a member of the Media Club, and holds the position of Student Director of Social Media for Athletics. In this role, she collaborates closely with coaches and athletes to produce engaging social media content highlighting Cowley’s vibrant athletic programs.

Grace’s journey to becoming Miss Cowley County began when she was crowned Miss Walnut Valley 2024. She was also a Queen Alalah finalist during the 2024 Arkalalah season, further showcasing her talents and community involvement. Over the past year, she has completed more than 80 hours of community service, demonstrating her strong commitment to giving back. Her volunteer efforts have included helping at youth camps and clinics, assisting the Dexter Fire Department, and participating in town clean-up initiatives. “Community is a big part of who I am, so any chance I have to give back, I try my best to get it done,” Grace said.

Grace maintains a busy schedule as a manager at Winfield's Maurices store while attending college and volunteering in the community. She credits her parents, Roy and Jennifer Henderson, for their unwavering support. Jennifer has worked in healthcare for 20 years, while Roy is a health and environmental safety regional manager. Grace also cherishes her experiences with the exchange students her family has hosted over the years, whom she considers her brothers.

Looking ahead, Grace’s plans are multifaceted. She is exploring opportunities to attend esthetician school while pursuing a bachelor’s degree online. She also has an interest in furthering her career in Mass Communications.

Grace’s achievements exemplify the values of Cowley College, and her upcoming participation in the Miss Kansas competition is an exciting milestone. The Cowley College community extends its congratulations and best wishes to Grace as she embarks on this new chapter.
