Cowley College holds initial Writers Corner of the semester

Cowley College's writing club Creative Claws hosted its first Writers Corners of the spring semester, and it was a success! Nine Cowley students, two Creative Writing program alums, three Humanities & Communication faculty members, two community members from Kansas Authors Club, and one Winfield High School student presented original works, including stories, poems, and song.

“The evening was full of creative writings, high energy, and much inspiration for all who attended," says Marlys Cervantes, director of the program. “This was one of the most successful recent open mic events because of the diverse types of works. We started with poetry, interspersed stories within, and then ended with a great song by our lyricist. We had a wonderful evening together.”

Students of the Creative Writing program invite the community back for their next Writers Corner on April 19 at 7 p.m., as well as to the student showcase at the end of the semester on May 3 if anyone has any questions about or interest in the Creative Writing program, you can contact Cervantes at marlys.cervantes@cowley.edu or find her in the Humanities and Communication Department.
