Mentz, Henderson named Homecoming king and queen
Capping a week full of Homecoming activities, Felipe Mentz and Shamahra Henderson were named Cowley College’s Homecoming king and queen during halftime of the Tiger men’s basketball game vs. Independence Community College on Wednesday night at W.S. Scott Auditorium.
Mentz is the son of Luiz Charles Mentz and Monica Reis Brambatti Mentz. At Cowley, he is a member of the nationally ranked Tiger track and field team, golf club, DECA, is a student ambassador, and serves as president of the Student Senate. He was named the December 2022 Student of the Month. After Cowley, he plans to attend a four-year university.
Henderson is the daughter of Sherry Henderson. At Cowley, she is a member of the Lady Tiger basketball team and is a member of the Dean’s Honor Roll. After Cowley, the Liberal Arts major plans to continue her athletic and academic career at Colorado State University-Pueblo.
Sponsors Peyton Cravens and Lynlea Bartlett were on hand to crown the new king and queen.
Bryer Kincaid and Ashlynn Stone handled the duties of the crown bearers. While Student Senate Liaison Emily Howard joined last year’s Homecoming queen Madilyn Sanderholm to assist with the crowning.
Queen finalists were: Bethania Barreto, Mya Chapman, Renissa Cinnamon, Maycee Wolfenbarger, and Shamahra Henderson.
King finalists were: Gabriel Atienza, Arnau Sagrera-Barnet, Mekhi Cameron, Haden O’Toole, and Felipe Mentz.
