Spring of Preceding Year

April

Select Professional Development Committee

  • The current Chair of the Professional Development Committee, a faculty member, will send out an email calling for new committee members for the following year.
  • The committee will consist of four staff members and four faculty members (one of which is the committee chair), each from a different department of the college.
  • Members will serve for one academic year (2 PD days- Fall and Spring).

Survey Topics of Interest

  • The current Chair of the PD Committee will survey both full-time and part-time faculty and staff for potential PD day topics of interest and presentation ideas.

Call for Presentation Proposals

  • The PD Committee will send out an email to all staff and faculty for presentation proposals. This may be part of the survey request.
  • The committee will encourage those who have been to conferences to present information at the PD day.
  • Staff and faculty will have until June 15th to submit proposals.

Fall of Current Year

June - August

Select Presentations

  • Before the start of the fall semester, the PD Committee will review the presentation proposals and choose session topics based on a tentative organization for the PD Day (theme, number of sessions, faculty and staff tracks, etc.).
  • The committee will notify session presenters at least two weeks prior to PD Day.

September

Establish Agenda

  • The PD Committee will put together a final agenda for the day and confirm the agenda with AVP.
  • The final agenda will be sent to all faculty and staff at least one week prior to PD Day. Invitations will also be sent to part-time faculty and staff.

Gather Feedback

  • In the week following PD Day, the committee will send out a survey to all faculty and staff for feedback and ideas for the next PD Day.

December

Review and Plan Spring PD Day

  • Feedback from the Fall PD Day will be reviewed by the committee to help plan the Spring PD Day.
  • The committee will set up a tentative plan and/or agenda for the Spring PD Day to determine how to proceed, which may include working with proposals unused in the fall and/or calling for new proposals.

Call for Presentation Proposals

  • Depending on needs, the committee will send out a new call for proposals from faculty and staff when faculty return to campus for the spring. The committee will encourage those who have been to conferences to present information at the PD day.
  • Staff and faculty will have until January 1st to submit proposals.

Spring of Current Year

January
