AJ Ybarra
I began my teaching career in 2010 teaching middle/high school subjects, ranging from Algebra 1 through Calculus. I started teaching part-time for Cowley College in the Spring 2014 semester, and was then promoted to full-time status in the fall of 2018. I have been a part of Cowley in one form or another since 2001 and I am so excited to be back on campus!
I grew up in Wellington, KS, graduating from Wellington High School in 2003 where then I was able to attend Cowley College. It was my time there that (and a really awesome teacher!) got me hooked on math; there is just something about the feeling you get when you are able to complete a seemingly giant math problem all on your own! After graduating there in 2005 with my Associate of Science degree, I transferred to the University of Central Oklahoma. As many of us do in college, I changed my major a couple of times, finally decided to embrace my math skills, and graduated with my Bachelors of Science degree in Applied Mathematics in 2009. Finally, in 2013, I graduated from Southwestern College with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.
