Steve Anderson

Hey there, I'm Steve Anderson. I've been with Cowley College since August 2022, working at the Sumner Campus in Wellington, where I handle custodial, maintenance, and grounds duties. I also assist at the campuses in Winfield, Mulvane, Wichita, and Arkansas City.
Before joining Cowley College, I worked for three years for the city of Arkansas City in general labor, where I developed a strong appreciation for interpersonal communication skills. During that time, I recognized that effective communication can enhance integrity, foster better teamwork through mutual learning, and increase accountability.
In 2006, I graduated from Cowley County Community College with an Associate of Arts degree in History. Additionally, I earned a Wind Turbine Technician Certificate from Vatterott College and spent some time working in the wind turbine industry with Airways based in San Angelo, Texas. I also worked for the Mortenson Company on solar field projects.
Throughout my career, I have learned the importance of accountability and flexibility in adapting to changing situations. I have family in Oxford, Kansas, and I originally hail from northern Iowa, where I enjoyed winter sports, particularly hockey. I've been a fan of Nebraska Cornhuskers collegiate sports since birth. While I am excited to take on the dorm manager position, I also enjoy my roles in custodial, maintenance, and grounds work at Cowley College. Together, these experiences have helped build my character and ability to adapt in an ever-changing world.
