Dr. Jamie Hibbs
Jamie has taught as an adjunct instructor at Cowley since 2009 and in 2023 moved to a full-time faculty position as the Director of Education. Jamie has over 20+ years of experience as an educator.
Jamie was born and raised in Kansas, attending public schools in Wichita. Participated on the debate team in high school and college. Earned a Bachelor's degree in English Education from Wichita State University in 2001. After graduating from WSU, started teaching full-time as an English and debate teacher at Arkansas City High School. Moved into a role as an instructional coach, helping mentor new teachers, provide professional development, and managing testing and data, continuing in that role until 2023.
In 2010, completed a Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Southwestern College. Jamie completed the graduate classes and passed the Praxis test for a building principal license in 2015 from Newman University. Jamie is currently, ABD on a Doctorate degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a Certificate in Instructional Design from K-State and plans to graduate in Spring 2024.
Jamie holds the following teaching licenses in Kansas:
- English (grades 7-12)
- Family & Consumer Sciences (grades 6-12)
- Speech Communication (grades 6-12)
- Speech/Theatre (grades 6-12)
- Eligible for Building Leadership (grades K-12)
Jamie is married to Jason, who is also an adjunct instructor at Cowley College in public speaking and a full-time school Library Media Specialist. Together they have fostered several children and teens over the past 15 years and have 6 adopted children.
