Loretta Waldroupe
Loretta started her career at Cowley in June of 1998. In August 1998 she became the Trio Math Specialist. She has been performing this job since that time. She loves the job she does and knows teaching future generations is what inspires her.
Loretta is a Cowley alumnus, graduating in 1986 with an Associate of Arts degree. From there she went to Southwestern College in Winfield where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Education in 1988 and her Master’s of Education in December 2014. She currently teaches two math classes for the Trio students and also teaches some online classes as an adjunct instructor.
Loretta has received the NISOD Master Teacher award in May 2008. She is an active member of Missouri-Kansas-Nebraska state chapter of Trio. Loretta is a lifelong learner and has taken several other classes throughout her time at Cowley. She perceives Cowley as her family and her home away from home.
Loretta is very passionate and dedicated to help her students and strives to help them believe in themselves. Working with smaller classes so her students receive more one-on-one instruction is the best part of her job. She goes out of her way to help students in whatever way she can. Being a first generation, low-income student, herself, has helped her understand where the students she works with come from and how they feel about their college experience.
