Cowley College conducts second annual CTE Signing Day event

Helping celebrate students committing to a career in Technical Education, Cowley College’s main campus in Arkansas City was one of numerous schools to participate in National CTE Letter of Intent Signing Day on Thursday. Cowley’s signing day event was held in the Robert Brown Theatre.

The event began at Washburn Tech in 2014 and has grown to include numerous schools for this year’s CTE Signing Day. The ceremony was done to honor the students’ decision to pursue one of Cowley College’s career and technical education programs that lead directly to a rewarding career after graduation.

Faculty representatives Joe Clasen, Buddy Curry, Frank Owens, Paige Winslow, Chris Cannon, and Janet Davidson spoke at Thursday’s event as did Cowley College president Dr. Michelle Schoon.

“It is important that we celebrate these students’ journey,” Clasen said.

Students signing on Thursday were, Brylee Budee, Carly Collins, Shanelle Romine, Taylor Bedore, Karlie Irwin, Abigail Rhodd, Mason Burr, Robyn Shaw, Josiah Lapp, Abigail Bowman, Shelby Cairns, Luke McComb, Valgean Stallings, and Carrie Tooman.
