Cowley College's recent hire, Zach Cooper, has been appointed the Director of Cowley College Sumner Campus. With a Bachelor in Agricultural Education from Kansas State University and a Masters in Career Technical Education from Pitt State, Cooper is currently undertaking a PhD Program with Oklahoma State University in Agricultural Education.

Before joining the Faculty and Staff of Cowley College, Cooper was a High School Agriculture teacher, where he developed his curriculum and used and supported CASE (Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education).

Cooper shared, “Looking back, I graduated High School with a class size of 6 people in the middle of nowhere Colorado (Stratton). From a small class to serving as a State FFA Officer, to Athletic Security Supervisor for K-State, to a high school teacher to here today. Every time an opportunity came up where I could learn something new or challenge myself, life changed and made me who I am today.”

At home, the Cooper family, having just welcomed a daughter, has their hands full with two dogs, two cats, three horses, chickens, and twenty-five beehives. His wife, a veterinarian and owner of the Arrowhead Animal Clinic in Wellington, occasionally embraces assistance from Cooper on late-night emergency calls. Together, the couple shares a firm belief in trying to help others and being involved in the community. Whether for church or the 4H shooting sports events for which Cooper volunteers, they try to stay active and connected to those around them.

Excited for the future, Cooper is looking forward to working with other Cowley Administrators, faculty, students, and the greater Wellington community.
