Cowley College ACES Program Now Under IMPACT

The ACES Organization at Cowley College, formerly directed by James Fry, is now operating under the direction of the IMPACT program. This transition represents a strategic alignment that will continue to enrich student experiences and community involvement.

Trio-IMPACT Student Support Services aims to provide academic development, assist students with essential college requirements, and motivate them to complete their post-secondary education. The program strives to improve retention and graduation rates while supporting students' educational journeys. With a dedicated team of five staff members serving 160 students—two of whom are ACES Alumni—IMPACT is well-equipped to foster student success.

IMPACT will uphold the ACES mission of combining educational growth with community service. Upcoming events and activities include participation in the Melodrama at the Burford, contributing to the Annual Sgt Jerry Mills Jr Fishing Derby on September 14 at Veterans Memorial Lake, and helping with the Pulled Pork Dinner on October 16, with tickets available soon. These events will provide students with hands-on community service experience while continuing the ACES Legacy.

Students in the ACES Program, now under IMPACT, will continue to be deeply involved in community service. Through activities such as reflection logs, journals, and presentations, students will connect their academic learning with their real-world experiences, reinforcing their skills and understanding.

"In Trio and ACES, we believe that giving students opportunities for personal growth through civic engagement gives them a deeper understanding of community needs. This understanding benefits their families and communities and prepares them to make meaningful contributions to society, regardless of their career path. By merging the two programs, we are creating a powerful experience and support network that enhances the education of well-rounded individuals," said IMPACT Director Roxanna James.
