Our Mission

To partner with community resources in order to provide basic necessity items to our students in a welcoming and relaxed environment. We are working to alleviate student stress by giving the opportunity to obtain food and other resources.

Our History

Although our campus had a student-run pantry previously, when funds became available through the state specifically intended for higher education use to assist with students' basic needs, Cowley College chose to perform a refresh on their current student pantry. These funds were made available in the Fall of 2022, and purchasing commenced shortly thereafter. With the ability to increase the size of the pantry, a new location was needed to be chosen. Once the Pantry Board discussed this, it was quickly decided to house the pantry in the Student Health Services area, located in the Nelson Student Center. With student assistance and input, purchasing continued through June 2023, when the final funds of the $40,000 was allocated. As Fall 2023 approached, the board began preparations for opening to students by creating a point system, organizing the products, populating an inventory count, and thinking of the next steps. Since opening, the pantry has proven to be a major success and is truly an asset to our students by assisting with basic needs. To be able to further enhance the pantry for years to come, the pantry committee continues to seek partnerships with local organizations and community members.
