Digital Medical Career
Medical Coder specializes in coding patients’ medical information for insurance purposes
using the CPT, HCPCS and the ICD 9 / ICD 10 coding system, an international uniform
classification system that groups related diagnoses and procedures for use in medical
insurance billing and statistical reporting necessary to comply with state and federal
regulations. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will receive a
certificate or AAS degree.

The medical coder will also gain proficiencies in written and oral communications, as well as word processing, spreadsheet, and database management software programs. Professionalism and flexibility are also stressed in the program, as employers are looking for employees who exhibit these characteristics.
